Furniture Storage Guidelines:

  • Lay down plastic sheathing, or a pallet between furniture and the floor of storage unit
  • Cover all furniture
  • Disassemble furniture if possible
  • Wrap table legs with packaging paper for scratch protection
  • Lay assembled tables top down on floor with legs pointing up
  • Stack chairs seat-to-seat with cloth or papers separating them
  • Avoid stacking or leaning furniture against outside walls
Bicycle StorageMetal Materials Storage Guidelines:

  • Wipe a few drops of oil on bicycles and tools as rust protection; to avoid oil staining do not store next to exposed items.
Breakable/Fragile Items Storage Guidelines:

  • Separately wrap before storing in dish pack box
  • Pack paper into bottom, top, and empty spaces in carton
  • Vase StorageTip plates, saucers, and bowls on their sides and use dish pack divider kit for increased security
  • Heavy items should not be stored on top of breakables
  • Labeling is doubly important

Books and Valuable Papers Storage Guidelines:

  • File boxes are the best idea for your important documents
  • Pack books flat and fill any empty space to stop movement
  • Books StorageAvoid overfilling cartons; books are heavy
  • Keep moisture free with plastic sheathing on top of pallets

Large Appliances and Equipment Storage Guidelines:

  • Moisture and mildew will damage your valuables if your refrigerator or freezer is not clean and completely dry; leave doors slightly ajar
  • Appliances StorageUse valuable storage space inside appliance for small items
  • Items stored on top or inside must be secured when moving

Clothing Storage Guidelines:

  • Wardrobe boxes allow you to store your clothing on hangers which will save the shape of your garments
  • Cedar eggs or rose pods keep fabrics smelling fresh
